Glossary Terms

A

Active Members
Discord users who regularly participate in a server through chatting, reacting, or voice activity. Active members are valuable for community engagement. See also: Online Discord Members.
Admin / Administrator
A user with the Administrator permission in a Discord server, granting them full control over server settings, channels, roles, and moderation. Admins can manage all aspects of the server.
Avatar
The profile picture displayed next to a Discord user's name. Real Discord accounts typically have custom avatars, which is one indicator of account quality when buying Discord members.

B

Ban
The action of permanently removing a user from a Discord server and preventing them from rejoining. Bans can be appealed depending on server rules.
Bot

Boost / Server Boost

Boost Level
The tier of perks a server has unlocked through boosts. Level 1 requires 2 boosts, Level 2 requires 7 boosts, and Level 3 requires 14 boosts. Each level unlocks additional features.

C

Channel
A dedicated space within a Discord server for specific conversations or content. Types include text channels, voice channels, announcement channels, and stage channels.
Community Server
A Discord server type with special features like welcome screens, membership screening, and server insights. Enables advanced moderation and growth tools.

D

Discord
A free voice, video, and text communication platform popular with gamers, communities, and businesses. Servers can be public or private and support various community features.
Discord Members

DM (Direct Message)

Engagement

Fake Members

Guild
The technical/API term for a Discord server. In developer documentation and bots, servers are referred to as "guilds."

Invite Link
A URL that allows users to join a Discord server. Can be set to expire after a time or number of uses. Growth services require a valid, non-expiring invite link to deliver members.

Member Count
The total number of users who have joined a Discord server. Displayed publicly and used as social proof. Can be increased by purchasing Discord members.
Moderator (Mod)

Permissions
Settings that control what actions members can perform in a Discord server. Managed through roles and can be customized per channel.

Real Members

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
An extra layer of security requiring a second verification method beyond your password. Can be required for server moderation actions.

V

Vanity URL
A custom invite link (discord.gg/yourname) available to Level 3 boosted servers. Makes sharing your server easier and more professional.
Verification Level
Server security settings that determine what requirements members must meet before participating. Ranges from None to Highest (phone verification).
Voice Channel
A channel for real-time voice communication. Can also support video, screen sharing, and activities depending on server boost level.

W

Webhook
An automated way to post messages to a Discord channel from external services. Used for notifications, integrations, and automated updates.
